I absolutely love bright fun moments in life that make you laugh so hard you cry. So when I decided to make glass beads it was because of my love of color that I associated with “happy feelings”!

Fall Y’all

Wow, i am loving the end of rain and this crisp weather that has taken its place!   I tend to live on the hotter side and sweat like a maniac, no i do not perspire - I SWEAT!  So this football sweatshirt lovin season is just what the doctor ordered for me.  I can actually put some makeup on without having it slide off of my face and leave streaks like it is the way i applied it, ugh!!

I know that i have been vacant on this blog for quite a while now but this season for beads is getting jump started by me so i will start having some more pics soon.  I will be torching all week, except for my singing class on tuesdays, yes you heard it here, SINGING!!   I have always enjoyed singing to my kids when they were little and I love to sing when i torch and when i drive.  However, it never occurred to me to take lessons because i am over 40 and really, what is the point anyway, i already sound like mariah (yeah, right)!  One of the moms at anna’s volleyball in the spring had asked me if i can sing and i told her that i can carry a tune, that i am not tone deaf but nothing great beyond that.  She told me that i sounded in my speaking voice like i would have a bright tone and sensed that i sang well.  Hmmmmm, i said and then told her that i was an alto and she told me “no way, you are a soprano i can tell”.  That is all she wrote, i am now setting out to find out if i can hit those notes i have always wanted to hit but just did not know how.  Last week i had my first lesson and she taught me how to breathe and stand and then ran me through a bunch of warm ups and then made me sing!  She had me sing Memories from cats because she thought that would be a good match.  Oh my, i hit those notes and floored myself, BUT i have a long way to go in my opinion.  BUT, i am in a recital in december at the senior home and it has a stage and i am one of two adults that she teaches.  I think it will be fun and my family is laughing at me and my friends are like “oh girl, we would not miss this for the world”.  I really think they will bring popcorn and candy and expect to laugh their heads off in the car ride on the way home, ha!!  No, in all seriousness they will support me whether i sing well or crack.  I am happy about this endeavor and i am having courage to do it because you can never be too old to sing better to your grandchildren or in your car!  I always wondered why middle aged people take up sewing or learn to weave a basket or go back to school.  Now i know, because for one, i am middle aged and two, i have the desire to be better.  I also just love Nancy my teacher and friend.  She is the most kind hearted and warm person with the most inviting smile and i am grateful.

I will have to sing two songs, one of which she picks and the other my type of music.  Stay tuned for more of my story later!

Meanwhile, enjoy the weather wherever you are and i will post some pics by the end of the week.  I am going to etch some beads which will be different and just play around really!

Trey Cornette class/volleyball/beads for Yelton’s!!

September 10, 2009

Hi All,

It has been a while and i have been busy just as all have you been.  I hope everyone has there kids in school and is starting to get into the swing of things with the new schedules and all.

I went to a class the holiday weekend and had a blast.  Trey Cornette is a wonderful guy, instructor and a master of glass!  It was challenging to say the least but i was happy with the outcome although my best bead did not make it to me in the mail, boo hoo!  I am currently scouting all that went to the class to see if it was shipped to them by accident.  It happens!  it was my favorite and i would love to keep it in my stash of class beads, AND i would definately wear this one.  I am hoping that someone realizes they have it (i used a different color as the base than anyone else did so that should give them a clue)!  The only thing is about making these long style beads is that you have to use a smaller mandrel and it does not work on the troll size at all.  So if i can get Yelton’s to carry a silver omega chain with a small end we will be set!!!
